
The collection of universal waste at the Acadia Disposal District’s annual Household Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste Collection, held in the parking lot at Mount Desert Island High School on Sept. 24, jumped to 1,231 items, up from 897 items collected in 2010.
The increase was due largely to a load of universal waste that came in from the Cranberry Isles, said ADD chairman Tony Smith.
