The high-speed ferry linking Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia will run three weeks beyond its scheduled close, the operator confirmed this week, citing steady late-season bookings and a favourable long-range forecast.
Harbourmaster’s office figures show foot traffic through the terminal up on last year, with a noticeable share of passengers arriving from Acadia rather than departing the island.
Local innkeepers have welcomed the extension. “October is the month people actually want to be here,” said one Main Street operator. “The light is better and nobody is queuing for a table.”
