The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Northern Shrimp Section has approved a total allowable catch of 2,000 metric tons, down from a cap of 4,000 metric tons for the 2010-2011 fishing year.

The season will close when landings are projected to reach 95 percent of the total allowable catch, or 1,900 metric tons.
