What does it mean to be “transgender” or gender nonconforming? How do we talk about gender expression and what issues arise for people who experience their gender differently than the gender they were given at birth? How can we begin to understand and celebrate gender differences? What does it look like to be supportive of gender nonconformity? During the second week in April, these questions and many more will be considered in a series of events for health professionals and the public sponsored by the MDI Hospital Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center and Healthy Acadia, with contributions from College of the Atlantic, Downeast GLSEN, Bar Harbor YWCA, University of Maine Machias, and Equality Maine.
