A serious motor vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon near Thompson Island has caused authorities to shut down Route 3, according to the Ellsworth Police Department. Units from Bar Harbor Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office were headed to the crash site at about 1:45 p.m., along with at least one ambulance.
