Selectmen authorized spending up to $5,000 to hire a consultant to research options regarding a marine- and technology-oriented magnet school April 7. Town Manager James Gillway, who also is an area state representative, this week submitted a bill to establish the school near Searsport District High School. The legislation, HP 873, is called “An Act to Establish a Magnet School for Marine Science, Technology, Transportation and Engineering” and has been referred to the Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs for consideration.
