A fire that destroyed a Downeast Transportation commuter bus July 6 was caused by friction from a flat tire, according to the company’s general manager, Paul Murphy.
Murphy reported to the Mount Desert Island League of Towns on the results of an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, which occurred in the parking lot of the Maine Coast Mall in Ellsworth.
