Sales totals in the Mount Desert Island area, Hancock County and the state as a whole recovered slightly during December, according to statistics recently released by the state Bureau of Revenue Services. Additionally, December’s totals show that while the sales statewide during 2011 increased over 2010 figures, totals for both the MDI area and Hancock County were down slightly from the prior year.
