Heavy snowfall Wednesday morning created hazardous driving conditions that contributed to a 75-vehicle pileup on Interstate 95 in Carmel, but the sun made an appearance in the afternoon while vehicles were being towed away. Wednesday’s storm hit Down East the hardest, burying the area with another foot of snow, according to Pete Rahe of the National Weather Service in Caribou.
