The case of a Bar Harbor woman who had nearly a dozen horses removed from her local Route 1 stable may go to a bench trial early next month. Sophia Johnston, formerly known as Sophia Pod, has pleaded not guilty to a civil charge of cruelty to animals that was filed against her when state humane agents removed 11 horses from her property last October.
