Residents and businesses of Hancock County are benefiting from Eastern Maine Community College’s Early Childhood Education program, which, as of last year, is being offered in full at the Hancock County Higher Education Center in Ellsworth. Thanks to a grant from the Maine State Legislature aimed at expanding education access in rural areas, twenty-three full and part-time students from around the County – Sullivan, Blue Hill, Deer Isle, Stonington, Bar Harbor, Ellsworth – have taken advantage of the program to gain the education they need to start or grow their careers in childcare and education.
