The federal government has resumed processing applications filed by businesses looking to hire foreign workers for seasonal jobs, a move that will be welcome news to Maine inns and restaurants. Rep. Chellie Pingree issue a statement Wednesday, announcing that a federal court in Florida had agreed to a stay of its March 4 order which stated that the U.S. Department of Labor did not have the authority to regulate the seasonal work permits known as H-2B visas.
