Following 18 years on the job, Bar Harbor Fire Chief Dave Rand has submitted resignation papers to the town.
“It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation,” Rand wrote in an Oct. 13 letter to Town Manager Dana Reed. “The last 18 years at the Bar Harbor Fire Department have been most rewarding. However, after many years in the fire service, it is time for me to retire.”
