The musical taste of today’s students may, perhaps, lean more toward teen-pop and heavy metal, but as evidenced by a recent swing through rehearsals at middle schools in the Mount Desert Island Regional School System, the young teenagers also enthusiastically pour their talent and energy into the complex rhythms of big-band jazz and the catchy vibes of Broadway musical-inspired show choirs.
