The Mount Desert Island boys and girls basketball squads tipped off the 2011-12 season Dec. 9 against Washington Academy, contest which ended favorably for the Trojans against the Raiders.
On Friday night, the Trojan boys shot 50 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and upended the Raiders 81-55 on the island, while the Trojan girls held on for a 48-44 victory over Washington Academy at East Machias.
